How On-Site Roll Forming Works
When CopperState Panel Co. arrives at your jobsite, here is exactly what happens.
Step 1: Measurement and Planning
We start by reviewing your project specifications — panel profile, gauge, color, and exact lengths needed. For new construction, we work directly from your plans. For re-roofing, we measure on-site to ensure perfect fit.
Step 2: Equipment Setup
Our mobile roll forming machine is trailer-mounted and arrives ready to fabricate. Setup takes approximately 30 minutes. The machine is positioned to produce panels that can be carried directly to the installation area, minimizing on-site handling.
Step 3: Coil Loading
Metal coils (typically 26-gauge or 24-gauge Galvalume or pre-painted steel) are loaded into the roll former. Each coil produces hundreds of linear feet of panels. We bring the exact coil colors and gauges specified for your project.
Step 4: Panel Fabrication
The roll forming machine feeds flat metal sheet through a series of precisely shaped rollers that progressively bend the metal into the desired panel profile — standing seam, R-panel, AG panel, or corrugated. Panels emerge at the other end, formed to exact profile specifications and cut to your specified lengths.
The process is continuous and efficient. We can produce a 40-foot panel in under a minute.
Step 5: Quality Check
Every panel is inspected for profile accuracy, edge quality, and coating integrity before being set aside for installation. Panels are stacked on protective dunnage to prevent scratching.
Step 6: Trim and Accessories
Ridge caps, drip edge, fascia, and other trim pieces are fabricated using a separate brake/folder. These are custom-formed to match your panel profile and color.
Why On-Site Fabrication Saves Money
No shipping costs. No distributor markup. No waste from pre-cut lengths that do not match your roof dimensions. Custom lengths mean fewer seams and better waterproofing. The savings add up to 30-50% compared to buying panels from a distributor.
